  1. Tito Garcia for County Treasurer, you are kidding me right? Another lifetime politician wannabe, just what Laredo needs more of!

  2. Javier Martinez Dr. Landeck's appointee to the Planning and Zoning Commission. What a backstabber!! He made a deal with Tito to run for council instead of County Treasurer in exchange for Tito's support. More of the same patron BS! No honor, no vote!!

  3. Sciaraffa for County Judge is to much. Your over reaching on that one to make a bad point. Either your not from Laredo or you do not know who is running and are taking wild guesses. You forgot to go ask Cotto she is running as well you see her windshield stickers in some cars. So far you have it almost wrong change your name to one eye watch puppy.

  5. Last thing that Laredo needs is Gene Belmares as Mayor. That man has no intelligence at all.

  6. WHAT A DISGRACE!! Are these really the best folks Laredo has to offer.
The future of Laredo is really bleak!! A pathetic bunch of losers

  7. Judge Veliz is the right candidate for the Justice of the Peace PCT 2 Plc 1. I have personally met Mr. Veliz and have seen his dedication to his job and the community. He belongs in his position for at least two more years if not more.

  8. Jackie L. Ramos is running for Webb County District Clerk not County Clerk. The current District Clerk will be retiring after 40 + years of service and the seat will be vacated for a new person to fill.

  9. Jackie L. Ramos may god help us all and our children.

  10. Well i agree Belmares is not a good choice for mayor. I hope and prey that Mayor Raul Salinas wins. Keep up the good job. Now Jackie L. Ramos?!
I guess anyone can run where do i sign? Are you all serious?

  11. Do you hope and prey???

Learn how to spell - its pray.

  12. Tano Tijerena just announced he's running for county judge. Too bad he lost before the first ballot was cast. He cannot win with Danny Valdez. He's trying to use popularity as a baseball player to win votes. People in Laredo are wiser; patron system is gone or dying. Competencies are in. Tano reminds me of Gaby Canizales who ran for Sheriff in the 80s: a popular sports figure with little votes. I say 300 votes at most.

  13. CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. I moved from Laredo 25 years ago and it's stil the same people and their kids running the show. Mostly ignorant people and business as usual. Following mexican tradition where compadres and daddy's money gets you everything.

  15. Voting for Judge Veliz is just comical. Everyone in South Laredo knows that if you scratch his back he might scratch yours. Laredoans should request a debate for this seat. So then, people can make a wise decision. As a professional with several university degrees, My family will NOT vote for Judge Veliz. Everyone knows how corrupt he is. I will never understand why people choose to look the other way.

  16. Esther Degollado is the best candidate for distirct clerk she's been there more then 20yrs so she knows whts right so laredoans keep her in mine.

  17. Mr. Joe Valdez Sr. is running for county treasure. I hope he wins. He has help numerous family through the community.

  18. vote tano tijerina, a God fearing man who i'm more than sure will not keep up this "scratch my back and i'll scratch yours" attitude laredo has.
we need people in power who are actually capable of doing their job without fear of retaliation. NO MORE COMPADRES, PLEASE!!! FOR OUR CHILDRENS SAKE!!!

  19. Well keep in mind that Andy Reyes is the most qualified one. He has been the 406th district judge, a policeman, and is recently a lawyer. I agree that Tano is using his baseball career to get votes, and as you can see people in Laredo are not wise enough. I also think Everyone has had enough of Danny Valdez, with his spending our tax money. I would really recommend you to keep in mind Andy Reyes since he knows what he is doing and can make a difference. Laredo needs a change!!

  22. Gene Belmares has the clear vision and proven leadership that is needed to take Laredo above and beyond! It's going to be hard when the candidates discuss what Salinas has done the last four years. Why? He hasn't done anything! You really want Salinas to win??? All he does is take pictures at social events and seems to be popping up everywhere these days. Why? He must be desperate!!! Gene Belmares has the intelligence, determination, and discipline to take Laredo where it deserves positive media attention. Laredo has been a joke the last four years. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!! Laredo has been beaten quite enough!!! Let's take back our city and vote for Gene Belmares. For more information, go to genebelmares.com. He discusses the five pillars of what makes up "Vision 2020!" Where should Laredo be in the next ten years? It has to be bigger than you and me!!! Let's resurrect Laredo!

  23. Rosie Cuellar, honestly!! Do we really need this town to be monopolized by one particular family? Dr. Henry is probably the only good thing that came out of that family. Most families have one black sheep but The Cuellar's have two. Rosie is an attorney like the other three municipal court judge candidates but she's been taking care of books at the law library for the past years of her life, not real people's lives. As for Madeline, she looks like the real thing but don't let that fool you. Madeline plans to change the city charter to make sure the municipal court judge gets a bigger salary to compensate for her leaving her private practice. Make sure to do the right thing and research the candidates before casting your vote.

  24. I heard Charles Wise became an attorney at the age of 25 and paid for his St. Mary's education by himself. He's done more than most at his age. He looks determined and committed. We'll just have to wait for the debates....

  25. If people think politics should be done differently and all they can do is complain, then why do so few people turn out to vote and why are there not more people on the ballot. If you want a change start with yourself!Do you have the guts to run?

  26. The mian problem I see is that the same persons are running, and that is a big problem. We need new faces around here. We need for somebody to take us into the 21 century. And not our hard earn money.
Salinas, he is ok, but not good. Belemares, he is a crook, his hand will be in our pockets. I would love to be mayor, if I had the education. I would make this city great. Clean streets, clean the downtown area, more places for family fun, and so on. Without my hand in your pocket. Be Laredo Proud!! But it just only a dream, now back to the nightmare.......

  27. Mayor of Laredo

I believe that as a published article I read says "Belmares gig of $100.000 + per year would be working for "special interests" and not for the city of Laredo. correct.
Either he does a good job for the city or a good job for special interest who are those that pay him. And we all know that.Lets not kid ourselves. He only workes three hours a day for the "Special Interest" in order to get advantages for them.
The middle class and lower people will only recieve his ususal and repetitive rhetoric or his special ja,ja only.
Salinas I truly believe that under very difficult economic conditions in our City and State has been able to do a good job working for the PEOPLE.
We dont need another talker politician BBT in Laredo.
Wake up to those dressed in sheep skin who dont think of the overall well-being.
Thank you and may you vote with your mind and heart thinking of middle and lower classes also and not "SPECIAL INTERESTS" which only benefit the handful and hurt many.
