Councilman Mike Garza wants to cut Firefighter & Police Officer salaries to fund city employees

Councilman Mike Garza of district one wants to cut firefighter and police officer salaries by 5% to fund pay raises for city employees. On Monday's city council meeting, Garza will introduce a discussion to the City Manager to formally request this support. The item is already controversial taking heat from both firefighters and police officers who don't want to see a five percent pay cut on their salaries.
