Several citizens and department heads expressed their concerns at this mornings Webb County commissioners court meeting. The county may encounter a one million dollar deficit or larger on next year's budget. If so, county departments will not be able to fully function occurring to several department heads. Commissioner’s court said they would have to make "cuts" to department budgets in order to avoid a deficit.
Also at this morning's meeting, Sherriff officials requested financial assistance to repair the Webb County jail. The court approved to cover half of the costs if the Sherriff’s department puts in the other half.

Two million dollars is but a drop in the bucket. These guys need a new updated jail. Perhaps one that is functional and one that employees are not getting sick at. Can you say"sick building syndrome" Sick Building illness, asbestos, recurring mold problems, poor or no AC on floors etc. Its a big breeding ground for dangerous bacteria and fungi. that leads to serious health consequesnces. Why are they reluctant to give am employee medical screening survey. I think you will be amazed at what they are not telling the public and the inmates. Shame on you. employees are afraid to raise thier concerns with administration for fear of retaliation and rightfully so.
