Texas US Senators John Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchison, both Republicans vote against the confirmation of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. Sotomayor was confirmed by a 68-31 vote and made history as the first hispanic on the court.
It shows that the senators will stick to their principals and beliefs in the face of opposition. If you would vote for Sotomayor soley based on being a hispanic then you are doing a disservice to the supreme court confirmation process. You have to vote on the belief that you think that the nominee will hold true to the constitution. I believe Sotomayor fails that test.
I didn't say they were voting against her because of her ethnicity, but because of her ideals. She has the experience and credentials, her only problem is being nominated by Obama and being parallel with him on their stance.
As a minority and a Texan I don't feel represented by these two senators. If Hutchinson is running for Governor then her vote caters to the right wing republicans and not myself. I wouldn't trust Coryn to vote for Sotomayor based on his position as chairman of the GOP senatorial committee. These senators are catering to the GOP.

I think this shows how out of touch Cornyn and Hutchinson are with constitutes and minorities, Mainly because of their republican ideals.

For the record, I am an independent voter.
