Previous deportee gets almost 4 years in prison

Jesus Alexi Pineda, a 22-year-old Salvadoran man has been sentenced to almost four years in federal prison for re-entering the United States illegally. He had been deported in 2007 after serving time on a burglary conviction in Rockville, Maryland During the burglary, he stole a government laptop and external hard drive that contained the names, birth dates and social security numbers of nearly 20 million veterans and active-duty military personnel.

There has been no evidence the information was used by Pineda or others. He was apprehended in April of 2009 on a ranch in north Laredo, the 22 year old man was charged criminally with illegal entry. He pleaded guilty in June and was sentenced Wednesday to three years and ten months in a federal prison.
