On July 3 LISD trustees voted to name Dr. Marcus Nelson the new superintendent. Will this time the board keep their superintendent for a long period of time? Only time will tell but for now Dr. Nelson has his eyes on reforming LISD. “The Laredo opportunity is clearly aligned with my professional goals and I look forward to the challenge of leading such a progressive and growing school system in South Texas.” Nelson says. The soon to be LISD superintendent seems to be a sort of celebrity, performing motivational speeches, having a radio show and even has released a CD.
