On Thursday Senate Majority leader Harry Reid of Nevada announced that he would not meet President Obama's target of passing legislation by early August. Why? Many people ask why is it so difficult to pass health care legislation now since there is a democratic majority on the Senate and in the House of Representatives.
The slowdown is all because of handful of republicans and the conservative democrats or "blue dog democrats". Area congressman Henry Cuellar has said that he will not vote for health care legislation as it stands now. Cuellar is also one of the "blue dog democrats" slowing the bill to congress. The fact is if congress doesn't act this year, costs for all Americans will increase.
Some believe Cuellar's objections to the proposed health care legislation have been cited by some as reasons why the bill has not passed sooner.
If a health-care compromise isn't reached in August, an increasingly likely possibility, then the first significant setback for the Obama administration will have come from the inside, not from the opposition.
While politicians keep on distorting, demonizing and delaying the plan, 14,000 Americans will loose their health care just this day. 62% of bankruptcies are because of healthcare, while these nice suited politicians have premium health care many Americans just don't.
Has Mr. Cuellar read the bill? If so what about all the benefits is is taking away for the old people??
