The City of Laredo should not expect a budget shortfall for the coming year.Though, city manager Carlos Villarreal says the council will need to make extra cuts due to shortfalls in major city revenues. "We are going to finish the year alright. We are proposing a balanced budget.” Villarreal says.
Next year's budget will still see a three and a half to four million dollars cut. The City was counting on bridge revenue for the next year's budget, but they are now experiencing a 6.3 million dollar shortfall. Today there are 28 vacant positions to fill at the bridges but the city will not hire anymore personnel.
