The new WiFi system costing taxpayers of Laredo over $900,000 will cover fourteen parks, a city facility and an area of downtown.
A total of 72 cameras will be installed by the end of August, people will also have free access to wireless internet. City officials say the new WiFi system will help deter crime. Motorola was awared the contract to install the systems.
Usually I am against the useless expenses that the city does on the regular, but I think these cameras equipped with Wifi are pretty innovative.
ReplyDeleteFinally the city is doing something to improve the city for all constitutes, and not using us as for a business model. Useless golf course or baseball field, anyone?
This money is going to fund a great idea. Our parks are constantly vandilized. Kudos to Mayor Salinas for introducing this idea.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the baseball field goes, it was put on a ballot and Laredoans voted for it (I voted against). I'm sure most people don't even read what they vote for. I know my step-father is one of those, he just votes for the politicians and disregards the rest, or just bubbles in random options, then cries when his taxes are increased!
