TxDot: Trans-Texas Corridor dead
The Texas Department of Transportation announced Wednesday it will literally wipe a segment of the Trans-Texas Corridor planned alongside Interstate 35 off the map.
Proposed in 2002, the would've been right-of-way that stretched 600 miles from Laredo through North Texas and onto the Red River frustrated property owners whose land was in the way, ultimately leading to the project's demise.
Ted Houghton of the Texas Transportation Commission appointed by Governor Rick Perry said, “We didn't do a very good job of explaining the Trans-Texas Corridor," he said. "A lot of it was mostly our fault.”
