House votes 220-215 to pass landmark health care legislation

The Democratic-controlled House narrowly passed landmark health care legislation Saturday night to expand coverage to tens of millions who lack it and place tough new restrictions on the insurance industry. Republican opposition was nearly unanimous with only one voting "yea". Congressman Henry Cuellar voted for the bill.

Cuellar called the bill "transformative" In his press release, he stated that the "...landmark bill is one of the most important votes this Congress will ever take. Senator Ted Kennedy once called health care reform ‘the great unfinished business of our country.’ Today, we are one step closer to finishing the job."

The 220-215 vote cleared the way for the Senate to begin debate on the issue that has come to overshadow all others in Congress.
