LISD board of trustees officials voted to place Dr. Marcus Nelson as the new superinendent for the Laredo Independent School District. Nelson says he will be "a big spokesman for the district". LISD and UISD officials were in attendance at the board meeting where Nelson was voted in. Dr. Nelson is the first african-american superintendent in Laredo's history.

Nelson officially takes over as new LISD superintendent
