Texas GOP Senator John Cornyn will vote against Sotomayor

Republican John Cornyn of Texas a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said today that he will vote against confirming Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court. “The stakes are simply too high for me to confirm someone who could address” major constitutional issues “from a liberal, activist perspective,” Cornyn said on the Senate floor.

Sotomayor, who will very likely be confirmed by the rest of the sente will be the first hispanic member on the U.S. Supreme Court.
