Former Laredo Medical Center CEO Abe Martinez is facing charges of extortion. Two area doctors are alledging Martinez's wrongdoing by taking him to court.
Laredo Medical Center could not offer any comments to the news media. The ex-CEO was honored as Community Health Systems' 2007 CEO of the Year. He resigned his position in April of 2008.

They may need to investigate the physician contracts and activity by Mr. Martinez at the hospital where he is currently working as the CEO, Cedar Park Regional Medical Center in the Austin area.

I can believe it. The other hospital company in Laredo hired back the CEO they fired from Eagle Pass (for philandering and other issues). It's all about profit, and to these gringo-run companies, if you have a latino last name, you must be qualified to run a hospital on the border.
ReplyDeleteAbe learned from the doctors, likely. THere is a high profile plastic surgeon in town who asked for high amounts of "call pay" from a hospital, didn't get it, and then threatened to act as a hostile witness in any lawsuits against the hospital. WTF?
